Safe from the Inside Out: Why Emissions Matter in Your Nursery
When preparing your baby's nursery, safety is always top of mind. Many parents today have questions about formaldehyde and other VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds). These are naturally occurring or synthetic chemicals sometimes found in wood composites, paints and finishes. At high levels, they can affect indoor air quality, which is why global safety standards exist to limit emissions in children's products.
Safe from the inside out. At Gaia Baby, your baby's safety comes first, right down to the air they breathe. That's why all our furniture is tested and certified to surpass the strictest global standards for formaldehyde and VOC emissions, giving you complete piece of mind for your baby's nursery. That means cleaner air and safer sleep for your baby.
Formaldehyde & VOCs
While there is currently no compulsory limit in the UK or EU, we choose to meet and exceed the world's toughest requirements. Australia's Consumer Goods (Infant Sleep Products) Safety Standard 2025 sets the most stringent limit worldwide at no more than 0.5 parts per million. All Gaia Baby materials test at less than 0.2 ppm, far below this limit.
Other Toxic Elements
All our woods, paints and finishes are independently tested to AS/NZS ISO 8124 standards. This ensures they're free from harmful levels of heavy metals or other toxic compounds, so you can feel confident about every detail.
