Materials & Emissions
At Gaia Baby, your baby’s safety comes first, right down to the air they breathe. Our materials are certified to meet and surpass global safety limits for formaldehyde and VOC emissions, ensuring cleaner air and a safer nursery environment.
Formaldehyde & VOCs: While there is currently no compulsory limit in the UK or EU, we choose to meet and exceed the world’s strictest requirements. Australia has the latest and toughest testing standards for formaldehyde (no more than 0.5 ppm). Our materials tested at less than 0.2 ppm, far below the limit.
Other Toxic Elements: All our woods, paints, and finishes are independently tested to exceed all EN,UK & Aus/NZ standards. This ensures they’re free from harmful levels of heavy metals or other toxic compounds.
What this means for you: Every Gaia Baby nursery item is certified to the new Australian Consumer Goods (Infant Sleep Products) Safety Standard 2025, giving you total peace of mind that your baby’s furniture is safe, non-toxic, and built for healthier sleep.

Yes, we have included a set of armrest covers with every Serena Rocking & Nursing Chair. These armrest covers help protect the fabric of your chair and make for simple cleaning. They can be popped in the wash on a 30°C cycle.
What are the legs of this rocking chair made from?
The legs of the Serena Rocking Chair are made from natural birch wood.

How do I clean my Serena Rocking Chair?
Both the rocking chair and footstool are upholstered in a durable and hardwearing fabric. We recommend spot cleaning the fabric where possible, with a clean, damp cloth with some gentle detergent.
Your cushion covers can come off and go in a gentle, 30°C wash, but it can be very tricky to get the base cushion cover back on, please spot clean where possible.
What is the maximum weight limit for the Serena Rocking Chair?
Our Serena chair does not have a specified weight limit, the chair is designed to take the weight of any adult.
